Users of Apple iPhone 5 and later, iPad 4th Generation and later, and iPod 6th generation and later should now be upgrading to iOS 10.2.1.
Devices prior to iPhone 5, iPad 4th Generation and iPod 6th generation will miss the update. Users of these devices should consider and upgrade to a more secure device.
The latest update patches various vulnerabilities in the Kernel, WebKit, Auto Unlock, Contacts, and libarchive and WiFi.
While no new features have been updated with this release, the security updates are important, as many of these vulnerabilities may allow arbitrary code execution.
Arbitrary code execution may allow and attacker to execute malicious code on your device.
To install iOS 10.2.1:
- Open Settings
- Scroll down and tap General
- Tap Software Update
The device will need to be connected to WiFi before the Download and Install can be activated.
Full details regarding the vulnerabilities can be found on Apple’s website.
